JOSEPH W. MONTGOMERY

Joseph W. Montgomery is Director of Investments of Wachovia Securities, LLC and a Certified Financial Planner and Certified Portfolio Manager. He heads The Optimal Service Group, which serves high-net-worth individuals, institutions, and corporations from Wachovia Securities' Williamsburg, Virginia, office.

A native Virginian, Mr. Montgomery joined Wachovia Securities' predecessor, Wheat First Securities, in 1975 and was recognized by Registered Representative magazine as one of the outstanding brokers of 1984. In 1988 he was the first recipient of the Wheat Mission Award, presented to a Wheat associate recommended by his or her peers for dedication, professionalism, and superior service to clients and community. In 1990 he received the firm's President's Cup as the top retail Financial Consultant, and in 1991 he was the first recipient of the Professional Excellence award. He has been a speaker at the Securities Industry Association's (SIA) Sales and Marketing Conferences and a lecturer at the SIA's Securities Industry Institute. In 1995 he was selected by Financial Planning on Wall Street magazine as one of the Ten Best Brokers in their national survey. In December of 1996, Research magazine selected him for the Broker Hall of Fame, and in 1999 he was selected as one of the Best 250 Financial Advisors by Worth Magazine and each succeeding year has been included in Worth's list now limited to the Top 100. In 2004 he was chosen for the Wachovia Way Award representing the ideals of the firm. Since its inception in 2004 he has been on Barron's Top 100 Best Brokers list. In August he was featured in Virginia Business as the top Financial Advisor in the state.

Mr. Montgomery served on the board of directors of the Williamsburg Community Hospital from 1988 to 1993 and chaired its Finance Committee. For six years, he was a director of Williamsburg Landing Inc., a non-profit retirement community. He currently serves on the boards of the Future of Hampton Roads, Inc. the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Inc., the Greater Williamsburg Community Trust and Hampton Roads Academy. He was a founding board member of Williamsburg Community Health Foundation. He is past President of the Society of the Alumni of the College of William and Mary in Virginia, where he was All-American in football. He was appointed by Governor George Allen to William & Mary's Board of Visitors in 1995 and served until 1999. For six years he served on the Board of the College of William & Mary Endowment. From 2001- 2005 he served on the Investment Advisory Committee of the Virginia Retirement System.

Mr. Montgomery is a graduate of SIA's Securities Industry Institute at the Wharton School of Business. He and his wife, Linda, have a son, Joseph, age 13, and a daughter, Madeline, age 9. They reside in Williamsburg, VA.
